The common visible signs of Ageing Skin are: Thinning Skin Texture, Laxity and Sagging Skin, and Less Translucent / Less Radiant Skin
As we age, the outer layer of our skin starts to sag as it no longer provides the necessary support to the skin. Collagen is a group of proteins found naturally in the body which provide our skin with structure and strength, while elastin is also a protein, but it affects the elasticity of our skin (the ability of our skin to “snap back”). They work together to give our skin its firmness and shape.
As we age, we naturally lose the ability to produce the same amounts of Collagen and Elastic deep within our skin as when we were young. Environmental stressors such as exposure to sunlight compromises the production of both Collagen and Elastin even further. The result is a sagging and lax skin tone.
