Unlock the beauty trapped within your skin.

At Skin Secrets, we use the world’s most advanced, innovative and safe medical micro-needling device – SkinPen™. The SkinPen is a non-surgical and non-ablative medical instrument designed to safely stimulate the body’s innate healing process.

Medical Micro-Needling is best known as Collagen Induction Therapy, where micro-needles stimulate the skin to initiate the wound healing process. This type of Collagen Induction Therapy is a revolutionary improvement to traditional therapies like Dermabrasion and Chemical Peels that may have long down times, limited efficacy and a high risk of serious complications.

InnoPen’s Collagen Induction Therapy

The InnoPen’s Collagen Induction Therapy is the safest and most effective method to treat all skin types and improve fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, and skin laxity.

The InnoPen is an automated micro-needling device that uses medical-grade needles precisely spaced to perforate the skin at a direct 90 degree angle.  During this process, small micro-channels are created in the skin to activate the natural repairing response of the body. The body then shifts into regeneration mode where the body increases the release of growth factors within the deeper layers of the skin. As a result, collagen and elastin production is induced and accelerated to heal the micro-perforations, thereby building new layers of healthy skin.

The micro-perforations that are created by the InnoPen act as channels to optimize the absorption of therapeutic serums. Clinical studies have shown that topical absorption is increased by as much as 3000 times when combined with the InnoPen technology.

The InnoPen is one of the most advanced, non-ablative anti-aging devices specifically designed to bring back a youthful and healthy glow to your skin!

Skin Aging

The skin is a dynamic organ that is in a constant state of change. It is comprised of 2 primary layers – the epidermis which is the outer-most, protective layer of our skin and the dermis, also known as the “true skin”. The dermis is the most important layer and is comprised of fibroblasts that mainly produce collagen and elastin.

Collagen makes up 70% of the dermis and plays a vital role in the elasticity and tone of our skin. Due to the natural aging process, by the age of 35, almost half of the collagen you were born with has been lost and as a result your skin losses its tone, texture and elasticity.

The Benefits

Medical Microneedling will have you noticing a significant improvement in the texture and quality of your skin.

The InnoPen stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin within your skin and as a result your skin becomes more plump, textured and smooth.

Medical Microneedling helps reduce acne scars which are notoriously difficult to treat.

Injury to your skin induces fibrosis and eventually scarring. This natural process is good when healing because it makes everything stick together. But beneath the skin the fibrosis can be so strong that it can literally pull the skin down and create pockmarks or scarring on the surface of the skin.

Medical Microneedling helps to breakdown the fibrosis that causes the scarring, allowing the skin to “let go” and release the surface of the skin and thus the scar.

Medical Microneedling is helpful for women who suffer from black heads (including PCOS and hormonal acne). Blackheads are simply pores that are clogged with a mixture of sebum (your skin’s natural oil), dead skin cells, dirt and are actually considered a mild form of acne.

Medical Microneedling treats blackheads through several mechanisms including physically cleaning out your clogged pores and through stimulating the production of collagen, elastin and new blood vessels. You will also find that after your treatment the size of your pores will have decreased in size and it will be less likely that your blackheads will recur.

Not only does Medical Microneedling help treat acne scars, but it can also treat active acne. It does this by stimulating cytokine release and growth factor production, resulting in a reduction of sebum (oily secretion of your pores) production in your skin.

Exfoliation refers to removing the oldest dead skin cells on outmost surface of the skin. Medical Microneedling mechanically exfoliates the skin, leaving your skin fresh and smooth.

The fine needles of the InnoPen create small channels or perforations in the skin. This stimulates your skins natural healing process and results in a cascade of cytokines and growth factors. The grow factors are released to heal and repair your skin and do so by inducing the production of new collagen, elastin and blood vessels.

In the short term your skin will brighten and look more radiant secondary to the superficial swelling and inflammation caused by the treatment. However, over the long-term, increased collegen and elastin production can continue for up to 6 months.

The combination of these changes will reduce fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin tone and texture.

Hyperpigmentation has many causes including hormonal changes, sun exposure, inflammation, pimples, black heads and white heads or some medications. Through the release of cytokines and growth factors and the subsequent production of collagen, elastin and blood vessels, your epidermis and dermis are effectively replaced with new healthy cells. This evens out your skin tone, texture and pigmentation making medical microneedling one of the most effective procedures available to treat hyperpigmentation.

What to Expect

For the best results, follow these tips leading up to your appointment:

  • Keep out of the sun for 24 hours before your treatment.
  • Avoid taking autoimmune disease medication for 24 hours.

  • Don’t have microneedling performed if you have used Accutane (Isotretinoin), an acne medication, in the last six months.
Here’s what to expect during the treatment: During the Medical Microneedling procedure, your skin may become red and tight, creating the sensation that you have been sunburned. The skin technician will apply a topical numbing cream before treatment begins to improve your comfort level.
